🎶 Region VIII High School Choir Auditions – Outstanding Results! 🎶

We are proud to announce that our high school choir programs had a strong showing at the Region VIII High School 9–12 Region Choir Auditions! Across the district, 57 talented students earned places in the Region Choir, demonstrating their dedication, hard work, and vocal excellence.

Even more impressively, 34 of these students advanced to the Pre-Area Round of Auditions, moving one step closer to earning a coveted spot in the Texas All-State Choir. Region auditions are the first in a rigorous three-tier process, and advancing is a major achievement.

A heartfelt congratulations to all of our choir students, and a big thank you to our exceptional choir directors for their leadership and commitment to excellence in music education.

Congratulations Chaparral High School Bobcat Drama and Union Grove Middle School Theatre who were both named Exemplary Campuses of Distinction by the Texas Educational Theatre Association for 2025. This is Chaparral High School's second year being named. Union Grove's Theatre Program was recognized last year as an Outstanding Campus and has increased their award to Exemplary for 2025. Students from Harker Heights High School, Chaparral High School and Ellison High School were recognized by the Killeen ISD School Board last night for outstanding achievement on stage and behind the scenes in the International Thespian Excellence Awards. Thirteen students achieved the highest ratings and qualified to compete at the National Level. Ellison High School Wind Ensemble Performs at State Festival : This past weekend the Ellison High School Wind Ensemble made history by being the first Killeen ISD band to be invited and perform at the UIL State Wind Ensemble held at the University of Texas at Austin’s Bates Recital Hall. The UIL State Wind Ensemble Festival highlights musical artistry over competition. Ensembles are invited based on superior ratings at their UIL Region concert evaluation, and instead of ratings or rankings, they receive detailed feedback from a panel of expert evaluators from top universities. Following their performance, Ellison students participated in a clinic with Dr. Jason Zastoupil, Professor of Music at the University of Tennessee, who offered insight and guidance on refining their musical expression. Students also had the opportunity to attend additional ensemble performances throughout the day, making this a meaningful experience both musically and educationally. Two students, Natalyia Goodman and Jewel Reese, earned the UIL Outstanding Performer State Designation—a high distinction awarded to individuals or sections within performing ensembles who demonstrate exemplary musicianship. The Ellison band program is led by directors Erik Reynolds, Daniel Young and Larry Ballard.
